A left-chest logo usually sits 3 to 4 inches wide, several inches down from the collar, on a relatively flat hoop — not on a cap curve.

Most adult polos and button-fronts wear a mark about 3 to 3.75 inches wide, sometimes up to 4 inches for simple crests. Women’s and youth blanks often sit slightly smaller. Height follows the artwork; tall stacks of type can hit the pocket line or look top-heavy.

Placement from collar and placket
A common production start is 7 to 8 inches down from the collar seam, centered between placket and side seam — then adjusted for the blank. Performance polos with a high hem or a pocket need a different number. Write the measurement you actually hoop if your shop has a house standard.
The hoop is flatter than a cap, so stitch angles can follow the garment drape. Density stays lighter on pique so the placket does not stiffen.
Do not reuse the cap file
Cap compensation and center-out sequencing will look wrong on a polo. Order a left-chest punch even when the vector is the same. Amazing Punch treats them as two tickets so pull compensation matches the knit, not the buckram.
